The first album by ¶ Taylor (ManifestiV, Secret of Boris, Torturer Score) in high school amidst a transition from a childhood living between Texas & California to an adulthood settled in the former, "numm" came together in late 1998 / early 1999 while ¶ lived in the latter. After returning from CA to TX, recording wrapped with a May 2000 release. The original liner reads:

"to whom it may concern: the entirety of NUMM was mixed in a bedroom approximately 12 feet long by twelve feet wide, so some imperfections resulting from cheap equipment or CHEAPER patience may be detectable."

"numm" originally released under the "afterbirth" moniker and was later rebranded under the "dystress" name.
